Our success story begins with an unsuccessful attempt to make an adhesive bandage. The year is 1890. Pharmacist Paul C. Beiersdorf is working hard on a new prototype bandage when his laboratory is suddenly taken over by Dr. Oscar Troplowitz. The dresser of the pharmacist Beiersdorf had excellent sticky properties, but at the same time one major drawback: it irritated the skin. As an experienced entrepreneur, Dr. Troplowitz lacked an advantage and in 1896 launched the first technical adhesive tape.
