Established in 1935, Darcy Spillcare Manufacture is at the forefront of Environmental Protection and specialises in the manufacture and provision of solutions helping sites to achieve environmental and ISO compliance and care for the environment in increasingly demanding circumstances.

Spillages in one form or another have been with us since the early days of the industrial revolution and probably always will be as long as people continue to be thoughtless, careless or downright unlucky. Spillages occur in almost limitless variety. Situation, quantity and material will change and there are numerous methods by which they can be classified, one thing is clear these spills need to be cleaned up to prevent harm to the environment or, better still, prevented from happening in the first place.

Darcy Spillcare Manufacture was founded in 1935 by the great grandfather of the current MD, Richard Proctor, to develop, manufacture and market emulsifiers for the paper industry. The company then moved to its base at East Malling in 1949 and merged with Xzit (GB) Ltd.

In 1965 the company then known as Xzit entered the Oil spill clean up market - in which it has been at the fore front of ever since - with the launch of Drizit. The original Drizit - still available today - is a wood based fibre impregnated to absorb oil and repel water, a unique and substantial improvement over any existing oil spill clean up products. The Darcy range then consisted of 3 products; loose, booms and cushions.

In 1981, Richard’s father, John Proctor became managing director and renamed the company Darcy at the same time significantly extending the product range with the launch of an advanced absorbent range using polypropylene. Darcy now offers over 400 products.

Today the company can boast a long tradition of innovation in the Spillcare market supplying front line products in the battle to protect the environment all over the world from Peterborough to Perth, Australia.

We are committed to maintaining and improving the quality of both our service and products. We have held ISO 9001 since 1992 and are prime movers in efforts to standardise performance claims in our industry, to ensure that you, the customer, can make fair and meaningful comparison of the products available on the market. This has resulted in the current British Standard on spill control products BS7959.
