QuantBoats
Besides Hugh Welbourn - our "mastermind" - the hard core of the team introduces itself here, without which these innovative boats would not exist.
In the early 2000s, I changed boats at relatively short intervals. I am talking about sport boats. Somehow I was not really happy with any of them - even if the regatta results were ok.
This concerned me more and more and I began to think about the background:
- The market had to develop boats that covered the largest possible target group in terms of their positioning, because otherwise the break-even point could not be reached.
- These boats pretended to be able to do a lot and then you had to discover, that they weren't really good at anything.
- Statistically, our lakes in Central Europe are almost all extreme light wind areas. These boats were all too heavy for that.
- I could never accept the argument that good sport is all about everyone being on a level playing field, whether the boat of choice sails well or not. My boat of choice had to sail superbly - whether in a regatta or not.
- And finally a question to myself: Why was I so picky about my taste in boots? Actually, I'm not really a perfectionist.
