SEADEK
The groundwork for Hyperform, the parent company of SeaDek, was laid in 1984 with the creation of Wilson Fins, a small company run by two Florida locals. Based out of Rockledge, FL, brothers Kurt and Jim Wilson manufactured fiberglass surfboard and sailboard fins. What started as two brothers hand laminating specialty fins went on to dominate the industry. Using manufacturing techniques refined through their fin production, the company also produced select composite parts for small aircraft builders and other local companies.
With the success of Wilson Fins, Hyperform was incorporated in 1988. With innovation and forward thinking at the helm, Hyperform began their work with closed-cell EVA foam as a non skid decking solution. Hyperform went on to create X-TRAK®, a line of traction pads designed specifically for the performance surfing industry.
X-TRAK progressed to become the leader of its market segment and went on to develop K-GRIP®, a private label line of pads designed for world champion surfer Kelly Slater. In addition to traction pads, the company produced a variety of other products for the surfing industry. With the maturation and growth of X-TRAK, Hyperform was poised on the leading edge of EVA technologies, and pioneered many manufacturing processes as a result.
The market potential for their products in the marine industry soon became evident. After extensive research, testing, and design; SeaDek Marine Products was launched in 2002. SeaDek offered the innovative alternative to molded-in non skid and painted on textures that the marine industry had been after for years.
SeaDek brought many new options to the marine decking industry, including multi-color laminations, the "Faux-Teak" pattern, brushed EVA texture, and more. As a result, many leading OEM boat builders soon turned to SeaDek as a factory-installed non skid option for their new models. This combined with the unprecedented consumer acceptance of the product placed SeaDek on the forefront of the marine decking industry and cemented the brand as a standard for quality and innovation.
In 2014, the rapid growth of SeaDek led Hyperform to purchase a new 72,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility to meet demand and dramatically increase production capabilities. The following year, the principal owners of SeaDek extended ownership to over eighty full-time employees through an Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP) to further nurture the entrepreneurial spirit that drove Hyperform since day one.
Today, SeaDek continues Hyperform's tradition of innovation and quality manufacturing. Always on the leading edge of progress, SeaDek remains committed to the continual improvement of their processes, products, and customer relationships.
